I am Ashleigh, mostly known as Ash.
I am an animal fine artist with a deep affinity for our equine friends. My heart truly resonates with their spirit and grace, and I strive to capture that connection in my work.
For as long as I can remember, I have always had a sketchbook and would lose time engrossed in my imagination. As the years went by, more career-driven goals took over, and my drawing went by the wayside. I never believed I could present my drawings to the world. I completed a Bachelor of Equine Science in 2017 and then spent 6 months in Ireland, bringing some of the greatest racehorses into the world.
Upon my return, I reopened the idea of sketching and broadening my sketching skills, where I found the wonderful world of coloured pencil fine art. I was inspired by many artists from many different mediums and admired their use of colour.

One day in a coffee shop, my artistic journey began when my best friend took a look over my sketches and said I should show them to the world. It started with being commissioned to do pieces of pets for my family until word got out to friends of the family and I did my first official commission in 2020.

After 12 years working in the racehorse industry, I decided to take the plunge into being an artist. It was sad to leave the industry; however, I still get to enjoy my favourite animal on my drawing board quite often.

The unique name of Pieces By Ash was thought of by my brother, Liam, who, as well as the rest of my family, have been huge advocates for my artistic streak.
